Chapter 3: Surat Aal-'Imran (The House 'Imran), verse 52-58

Translation:

When Jesus observed that they had no faith, he said: 'Who will help me in the cause of God?' The disciples replied: 'We are God's helpers. We believe in God. Bear witness that we submit to Him. Lord, we believe in Your revelations and follow the apostle. Count us among Your witnesses.' They contrived, and God contrived. God is the supreme Contriver.' God said: 'Jesus, I am about to claim you back and lift you up to Me. I shall take you away from the unbelievers and exalt your followers above them till the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me you shall all return and I shall judge your disputes. The unbelievers shall be sternly punished in this world and in the world to com: there shall be none to help them. As for those that have faith and do good works, they shall be given their reward in full. God does not love the evil-doers.' This revelation, and this wise admonition, We recite to you.  (52-58)

Commentary:

The ‘bigs’ (Akabirs)/senior/elders (religious scholars) of Israelites refused to believe in Jesus Christ. In any society it is the bigs who have access to all resources, besides, in addition to being in possession of religious seats they become the representatives of religion in the eyes of the people. As such if these influential people reject someone, he is not only deprived of life’s resources but even after losing all for the sake of truth he remains a heretic in people’s eyes. In such circumstances the most difficult of task is to support a caller of truth. It is to testify to his veracity in a general atmosphere of suspicion and opposition. It amounts to siding with the truth when it is all alone.

When the truth comes in its pure form all those people who are leading a life of untruth feel - who by having pasted the label of truth on their lives based on untruth have secured a position of honor among the people. It is these people who rise to suppress the call of truth. They set the people against the caller by putting wrong constructions.

When this does not work they finally plan to resort to power in order to annihilate both the call and the caller. But God’s succor is always with the Da'i, that is why no opposition succeeds in suppressing the truth. In the face of all oppositions he completes his mission. Those who oppose the call of truth are mischief-makers in the eyes of God. It is because they stop people from going to the path of paradise. No evil/disruption can be greater than coming in the way of people’s entering into God’s paradise.

Jesus Christ was born in the Jewish community but Jews did not affirm his Prophethood. They instead made a false case against him and took him to the Roman court in Palestine. The court decreed to have him hanged, but God raised him to the heavens and the Roman soldiers hanged another person who resembled Christ taking him to be Christ. On this crime of Jews God decreed that the believers in Jesus Christ will forever till Doomsday have domination over the Jewish people. This is what was decreed by God for this world. The matter of the Hereafter is however different.
